Welcome to a brand new year! 2015 is about to be LIFE CHANGING.
In order to make 2015 your best year ever, and to really delve into the “new year, new you” annual self-improvement festivities, you’ll first have to clear some space, both physically and mentally.
The process of creation – of new intentions, new identity, new patterns, and new commitments – cannot begin without the space to do so. Destruction inherently precedes creation – it’s the way our natural world works! And since we are products of our natural world, this principle carries its truth into our lives as well.
Let’s say you are attempting to create a new and improved way of nourishing yourself (some people call this a “diet”). So what’s the first thing you do? Clean out your fridge and pantry and get rid of everything that’s out of alignment with your new intention to eat clean. Any candy stockpiled from Halloween, packaged food with artificial ingredients that you can’t pronounce, refined sugars and carbohydrates, and expired items must go!
This is where many people stop and think they’re really on a solid path to achieving their goals for the new year. But the true magic happens when you also clear the mental space for your results to come to fruition.
What are the beliefs you have about the area you want to change in your life?
Which serve you and which no longer do?
Where do you have to “clean things up” for yourself mentally?
Changing your results, and ultimately your destiny, starts with your beliefs. In order to put new habits into action, you must first replace your old, dusty beliefs that no longer serve your new trajectory with empowering alternatives that allow you to feel more expansive, and to quite literally create the mental space for greatness to come pouring into your life!
You can’t really authentically believe “I make space for greatness” and be resistant to change, right? If you are, then you are probably experiencing some form of cognitive dissonance because your beliefs and actions don’t align.
Your intentions become diluted when you lack focus. I’m also going to guess that if you’re holding these misaligned beliefs and actions that you’re not creating the results you want to see, and that things feel difficult for you in this area. But when you choose a new, affirmative belief that someone you WANT to believe is already in existence, then that allows your brain to re-focus on filtering information that supports your new, higher energy belief.
Post your response as a comment on this blog post: What would you need to believe to stay focused and become the person you’d like to be this year?
Note: It doesn’t matter if these beliefs are “true” – it only matters whether or not they serve you and help you move closer to what you want to create in your life in 2015.
Changing our beliefs, and choosing empowering ones, puts us in the driver’s seat of our lives.
We no longer get to feel like a victim; instead, we step up and take responsibility becoming the victors of our lives. It shifts our perspective from “this is happening TO me” to “this is happening FOR me” when we encounter difficult situations and roadblocks along our journey.
Since we literally create our own reality with the thoughts we choose to think, changing your beliefs is the most necessary and effective way to start getting more of what you want and less of what you don’t want.
Envision yourself viewing the world through dark-tinted sunglasses all the time, never knowing what the actual colors of the natural world look like, and never being able to observe the beauty that exists. Choosing to believe empowering thoughts is like taking off those sunglasses and letting all that natural vibrance and light flood your retinas. You finally see things as they are, and everything falls into place – you experience a greater sense of ease. Replace all that negativity with LOVE. Because when you change your mind, you change the world. And that’s where we have to start.
It’s a movement, love. Individuals change first, and the rest of the world follows suit.
