Like nobody's business
Podcast
Hosted by Emily Cassel
Guest Bio: Stevie Storck is a professional interior designer turned author and mother of 2. After releasing a craft book and taking a pause from client design work during the pandemic, in 2022 Stevie made a career pivot to writing and hosting local in-person events around the concepts of slow decorating and soulful, seasonal living. At Imbolc, she held the first gathering of her Cross Quarter Club and released the issue of her Midseason Journal – the first of four seasonal collections of blog posts that will be featured on her website throughout this year. She is also in the initial planning phase of creating a course on Slow Decorating. And she is navigating all of this while primarily being a stay at home mom to her two small daughters.
In this episode, Emily + Stevie discuss how life is cyclical, full of birth and death, and re-birth, and our businesses are no different, much like the seasons. They discuss how focusing on creating a business that sustains the long term actually creates successful + abundant short-term results as well.
Stevie describes how the pandemic + being a new mother forced her to slow down. She was able to experience the magic of watching her daughter discover the world around her. That coupled with her newfound love of gardening led her to want to live a slower, simpler pace of life being connected with the seasons of nature. This was the birth of her Cross Quarter Club. A club that meets seasonally throughout the year and includes a creative workshop, a sharing activity, as well as community building.
As a former Interior Designer, Stevie shares about her course she is launching. She recognized that as a society we are conditioned by shows like HGTV to think decorating takes place as a massive overhaul in a short period of time. But that isn’t a reality for the majority of the population. Her course will be designed to help you to discover your unique style, design your space and decorate your room, at your own pace with a realistic budget, and without the help of an interior designer. She calls it slow decorating.
As a founding member of the WMNûp community, when Emily asked her what this community has done for her Stevie referred to it as the fertilizer that she was needing for her garden. Which is a perfect representation of what the WMNûp community is providing, the nutrients that we all need and crave.
